Teach Yourself Violin

Here is a great video that I just found to help teach yourself violin.  If you’re hoping to learn violin at home, you can learn a lot from this girl’s violin lessons video.

I like her enthusiasm and her willingness to make her lesson fun and interesting.  Her technique is pretty solid, and I would say it’s about where I was at when I was first learning to play violin.  If you want to teach yourself violin, you have to dedicate yourself to your practicing, like she is.  I generally recommend 1 to 2 hours of practice every day.  One thing that I like about her idea is that she is video-taping herself so that she can watch and critique herself on her playing.  I think that it is a very good idea to video-tape yourself if you have the means available.  When your start to play violin, watching yourself play and the mistakes you make are integral to becoming better.
